About the Author

Fran Jurcak, RN, MSN, CCDS, is a director in CDI Solutions at Huron Healthcare, a division of Huron Consulting in Chicago and a former project manager with J. A. Thomas and Associates. She served as a member of the CCDS Certification Committee since 2010, and was recently chosen to serve on the ACDIS Advisory Board. Jurcak has implemented successful CDI programs in more than 50 hospital systems in the past five years. With more than 25 years of nursing experience, Jurcak has clinical experience in critical care and emergency medicine, and taught as an assistant professor of nursing at Madonna University in Livonia, MI, for more than 15 years. She was among the first CDI specialists to earn the CCDS certification in 2009.
