People don't die of atrial fibrillation. Okay, that's not always true. But on paper it appears as though most deaths are attributed to atrial fibrillation. This is because of inadequate physician documentation and inadequate understanding of the individual patient scenario.
Understand the anatomy
The atria of the heart gather venous blood. The superior vena cava, inferior vena cava, and coronary sinus vein gather blood into the right atrium. The pulmonary veins gather blood into the left atrium.
