Facilities performing stereotactic breast biopsies might be regulated under MQSA if the FDA agrees to a recommendation issued by the National Mammography Quality Assurance Advisory Committee (NMQAAC) on November 5. Nine of the 14 committee members voted in favor of including the procedure in the MQSA, despite objections from some who said the move might reduce access to the procedure and questioned its necessity.
