It seems as if every time you pick up the newspaper, another hospital is under fire for negligent credentialing. A jury awarded Lawrence Poliner, MD, $33 million after he filed a complaint claiming that Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas and several physicians practicing there failed to follow due process procedures under its bylaws. Although this decision was reversed July 29, such cases have rattled the nerves of medical staffs nationwide.
