A controversial new study claims that just because a
hospital receives a high score during a Joint Commission on Accreditation of
Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) survey, it doesn’t necessarily mean it
gets high marks on other quality indicators, including patient complications or
deaths.Researchers from the University of Michigan School of Public
Health, in Ann Arbor, compared the scores of JCAHO-accredited hospitals against
Medicare inpatient data prepared for The 100 Top Hospitals: Benchmarks for
Success, a study by Solucient LLC., according to a written release. They
