August 2003

Product Description:

A revised guideline from the CDC on isolation precautions slated for 2004 aims to strengthen efforts to prevent the transmission of infectious agents in all health care settings.

A group of experts called the Healthcare Infection Control Practices Advisory Committee (HICPAC) began work in 2000 to update the 1996 "Guideline for Isolation Precautions in Hospitals." HICPAC met in early June and plans to have a final guideline published in 2004, said committee member Marguerite Jackson, RN, PhD, FAAN, director of education, development, and research at the University of California-San Diego Healthcare.
