New SARS outbreak in China forces hospitals to reevaluate measures

After a quiet fall and winter, the deadly SARS virus could be primed for a comeback in China. At press time, there were nine confirmed or suspected SARS cases in China that resulted in death. Authorities say a researcher at the Beijing-based Institute of Virology contracted SARS and subsequently infected a nurse at a Beijing hospital. The researcher's mother died soon afterward from SARS, and the nurse's relatives and contacts also developed symptoms of the disease.
