presented on June 30, 2006

Building clinical information systems to streamline data sharing among physicians, nurses, and administrative staff is critical. So, how about bringing patients into the electronic loop?

Today's healthcare consumers are increasingly technology-savvy. Whether it's during their hospital stays, or from the comfort of their homes or offices, patients are looking for the same electronic access to their healthcare providers that they can get with their bank or airline services.

"Bedside Browsers: Using IT to connect with patients" will look at how innovative hospitals are using information technology to cater to these tech-savvy patients. Listen to HealthLeaders magazine technology editor, Gary Baldwin, along with four panelists as they explore how various technologies can be used to drive patient satisfaction, and how consumer-facing technology fits in with a hospital’s marketing plans.

The types of technologies panelists will discuss include

  • giving patients access to the Internet, premium cable channels, and cell phone services during hospital stays.
  • letting patients create their own Web sites during prolonged hospital visits.
  • enabling patients to request appointments, look at their account statements, and pay hospital bills online.
  • enabling patients to view their medical records, make refill requests, and communicate with physicians online.

If you are a senior level executive, whether CIO, CTO, CFO, CEO, CMO, or VP, or a department manager in a hospital or healthcare system, purchase this Webcast to learn more about how new technologies can revolutionize the way your organization and your patients interact.

Program Agenda

During this 90-minute Webcast, each panelist presents their unique experiences with patient-focused technology and give you the opportunity to submit your questions throughout the show.

Each presentation will address the following factors:

  • Technology: What services do they offer their patients?

  • Motivation: What compelled the organization to offer this technology in the first place?

  • Benefits: How does, or will, the program benefit patients and caregivers?

  • Lessons learned: If you had to do it over, what would you do differently?

A 30-minute Q&A session follows the presentations.
