About the Authors
Joseph T. Gatewood, Esq., is an attorney with extensive experience in the field of health law. He advises clients on regulatory and litigation matters related to health care fraud and compliance. Gatewood served as senior counsel in the Office of Counsel to the Inspector General of the United States Department of Health and Human Services. In this capacity, Gatewood litigated cases involving Medicare providers contesting penalties and exclusions imposed by the OIG.
Loren Johnson, MD, FACEP, is president of Health Access Associates, Inc., a consulting firm in Davis, CA specializing in EMS regulatory compliance. He is also chief medical officer of Sutter Emergency Medical Associates Inc., located in Sacramento CA and medical director of the Emergency Department at Sutter Davis Hospital in Davis, CA.
