Jacqueline Vance, RN, C., CDONA/LTC, is the director of clinical affairs for the American Medical Directors Association. She is a certified Gerontological Registered Nurse and a certified director of nursing in long-term care. In addition to overseeing, managing, and coordinating the Clinical Affairs Department at AMDA, she manages the Clinical Practice Guideline Project and other member services within the clinical arena. She is also the executive director of the Maryland Chapter of NADONA and on the NADONA board of trustees. Ms. Vance is a contributing writer for Caring for the Ages magazine, a legal nurse consultant, and a national presenter on topics related to care improvement for elders.
James Spahn, MD, FACS, received his MD from Indiana University Medical Center in 1970, and his board certification in Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery in 1975. In the process of developing a positioning mattress to keep his patients' heads elevated post-operatively, he learned that a product, the Position Perfect®, also prevented and treated pressure ulcers. Dr. Spahn is continually researching and designing product improvements, inventing new products, and teaching advancements in skin care. Dr. Spahn was awarded the 1998 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award for the medical industry.
