The purpose of this course is to educate nurses on the importance of infection control (IC) during on-site construction. IC during construction is complicated, primarily because of the many types of microorganisms that can cause infection and their numerous modes of transmission. You must ensure that all patients, staff, visitors, etc., are protected from exposure to such microorganisms.
In healthcare, several therapies may be used to treat the same health ailment, and each of these therapies could yield the same desired outcome. Approach the infection control risk assessment (ICRA) process as you would approach such an ailment: There are several paths to the desired outcome, and some paths are yet to be discovered. This course will help you determine the risks involved with IC during construction at your facility, and help you decide which path is most appropriate at your facility.
