FEATURED SPEAKERS
Kathy Duncan, RN, is the point person for the rapid response team intervention of the Institute for Healthcare Improvement’s 100,000 Lives Campaign, and has been a nurse for 24 years. Duncan has served as director of critical care for a large community hospital, where she led the initiative to develop and implement a rapid response team (RRT). She also initiated a system-wide effort to develop rapid response teams in the other 15 hospital entities in the Memphis (TN) hospital system and facilitates a community-wide effort to develop rapid response teams in local hospitals. As the IHI point person, Kathy has traveled the country advising hospitals on best RRT practices.
Mary Beth Rauzi, RN, MSN, is the manager of Learning Services at UHHS Richmond Heights Hospital, Richmond Heights, OH. Her background includes 25 years as a critical care nurse in a variety of roles from staff nurse to nurse manager. Rauzi co-led the rapid response team initiative at Richmond Heights Hospital. She has had the opportunity to speak at conferences and hospitals regarding the implementation, education and development of a successful RRT. Rauzi has taught regarding the use and actions of the SBAR tool in a variety of settings, including the RRT.
