Ending Nurse-to-Nurse Hostility: Why Nurses Eat Their Young and Each Other
presented on January 11, 2007
Nurses report that nurse-to-nurse hostility is the most harmful type of workplace conflict. These unhealthy peer interactions directly affect patient safety and quality of care by decreasing morale and job satisfaction, and increasing stress, anxiety and intent to leave the profession.
Conflict in the workplace is a serious problem because nurses who report the highest degree of conflict also report a high degree of burnout. In order to create a healthy work environment in which nurses can feel supported and nurtured, it is imperative that we recognize the signs and symptoms of horizontal hostility.
During this 90-minute audioconference, our expert speakers will define and explain horizontal hostility. They will provide strategies and solutions you can use to combat this destructive trend that continues to plague the nursing profession. Understanding the forces that perpetuate hostility will enable you to effectively end nurse-to-nurse hostility in your workplace.
