AUDIOCONFERENCE ON TAPE, CD OR AUDIO ARCHIVE
Sponsored by JustCoding.com
presented on February 20, 2007
If you’re not already collecting the present-on-admission (POA) indicator—a critical data element that indicates whether a particular diagnosis was present at the time of the order for inpatient admission—you will be soon.
Be sure that providers understand POA documentation requirements and that your coders can correctly assign a POA indicator.
Present-on-admission Indicator: Understand Reporting Requirements and Prepare for Implementation will help you comprehend POA requirements and how to collect the data and report the data. You’ll benefit from lessons learned by one California health system that is already reporting the POA. POA collection is already underway in some states, but it is important to understand national guidelines and how they differ from those your state may already require. The POA will become a national standard as part of the implementation of the UB-04, so it’s important to understand national guidelines now.
Our speakers will explain POA requirements, the financial implications of the POA, and how you can improve documentation to accurately capture the POA without requiring coders to engage in endless physician inquiries. You’ll walk away from this audioconference with a solid understanding of the POA indicator and how to implement it at your facility.
