AUDIOCONFERENCE ON TAPE OR CD
Sponsored by The Stark Law: A Users Guide to Achieving Compliance
presented on March 6, 2007
In 2003, Alvarado Hospital of San Diego was indicted for illegally recruiting physicians in violation of the federal anti-kickback statute. This past May, after two criminal jury trials that both ended in hung juries, Alvarado finally resolved these allegations through a $21 million civil settlement. Don’t expose your facility to the same risk.
Strengthen position and avoid prosecution.
Listen to this 90-minute audioconference, Criminal Kickback Trial: Lessons learned from Alvarado Hospital, where the Alvarado defense team will provide practical tips for compliance officers and in-house professionals to bulletproof their organizations against criminal prosecutions.
Hospitals and physicians engaged in financial arrangements need to thoroughly examine their policies, procedures, and activities to alleviate legal risks. David M. Deaton and Katherine A. Lauer, who were counsel for Alvarado and its corporate parent, outline what hospitals and physicians can learn from the Alvarado trials, and offer precautions to help keep your facility out of trouble and in compliance.
Note: This is an intermediate-level program. Participants should have a basic understanding of anti-kickback statute and its basic concepts and provisions.
