AUDIOCONFERENCE ON TAPE OR CD
sponsored by Briefings on Patient Safety
presented on May 30, 2007
The Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) reports:
- Mortality associated with severe Sepsis remains unacceptably high: 30 - 50%.
- When shock is present, mortality is reported to be even higher: 50 - 60 %.
- There are approximately 750,000 new Sepsis cases each year, with at least 210,000 fatalities.
- As medicine becomes more aggressive, with invasive procedures and immunosuppression, the incidence of Sepsis is likely to increase even more.
Prevent Sepsis mortality in your facility with the proven bundle strategy
It takes a team approach and hospital-wide commitment to reduce mortality associated with Sepsis and prevent new cases effectively.
During this 90-minute program, experienced speakers share tips and tools that you can implement to get a bundle program off the ground and positioned to measure success. They’ll demonstrate how to properly develop and use bundles when delivering care and provide examples of ways to implement a complicated change of procedure across different units in a facility.
You’ll walk away from this program knowing:
- What is an effective bundle to prevent and treat Sepsis
- How to identify what a bundle is and what is included in it
- How to get staff (physicians, nurses, etc.) to follow all the steps in the process
- How to overcome barriers to implementation
