Medication Management Under F-Tags 329, 425, 428 & 431
presented on Tuesday, June 5, 2007
Do you know the factors that cause unnecessary drug use, why it happens, and how you can prevent it?
The interpretive guidelines CMS provided to nursing homes for unnecessary medications in December are intimidating, but turning your back on them could mean serious citation problems. Take the first step toward compliance by gaining a full understanding of F-Tag #329. Mastery is crucial to ensuring your nursing home can do the following:
- Clarify psychoactive medication categories and how, when, and if reduction is necessary
- Develop building blocks for the prevention of unnecessary drug use
- Demonstrate appropriate and effective use of psychoactive medications during your next survey
Listen to this 90-minute audioconference (including a 30-minute question and answer session) and learn what factors lead to unnecessary drug use so you can effectively prevent it. During F-Tag #329 Demands Gradual Dose Reduction: How SNFs Can Comply with Strict New Drug Guidelines, experts Christopher J. Novak RPh, PharmD, CGP, and Debbie Ohl, RN, LNHA, NHA, will present a case scenario and offer advice to help you identify the specific and ongoing actions your facility needs to take to minimize unnecessary drug use via gradual dose reductions.
