AUDIOCONFERENCE
Sponsored by APC Answer Letter presented on June 6, 2007
Improve ED coding and appropriate reimbursement will follow.
Learn to engage your staff and educate them on how to document and capture correct charges before sending the bill out the door.
The chaotic and hectic environment of the ED makes it one of the most difficult departments for hospitals to maintain compliant coding. HIM staff are faced with coding numerous routine and non-routine procedures which increases the opportunity to miss appropriate charges and encounter compliance risks. Clinical staff often miss documentation of services, procedures, and supplies which can add up to a staggering loss of revenue.
Don't accept coding and documentation challenges in the ED as inevitable.
Make real changes now.
Through detailed case studies that provide real-life solutions to ED coding and reimbursement challenges, this program will help you and your staff:
- Decipher and accurately code difficult cases in the ED
- Work interactively with colleagues to identify best practices/strategies for improved documentation
- Enhance compliance in the ED
- Develop best practices for establishing successful auditing processes in the ED
Note: Participants should have an understanding of basic coding and knowledge of surgical cases and operational practices in the ED.
