AUDIOCONFERENCE ON TAPE, CD OR AUDIO ARCHIVE
Sponsored by The No-Hassle Guide to EHR Implementation
presented on July 17, 2007
Working with hybrid records and implementing an electronic health record can lead to unintended consequences for your organization, such as workaround shortcuts by staff, paper record storage complications, disposal mistakes, and more. New processes inevitably bring new problems, and you don’t want to risk patient safety or staff productivity in your effort to digitize your facility.
You can reduce those unintended consequences with sound policies, procedures, and proper staff training. This 90-minute audioconference, featuring two experts in the field of EHR transition, helps you learn how to avoid creating new problems while you develop and implement solid policies that will smooth your transition to the hybrid and EHR environment.
NOTE: You should have a basic understanding of the components of a hybrid record. It would be helpful to know your organization’s current use of hybrid records.
TAKE A LOOK AT THE AGENDA:
- The evolution of hybrid records
- Workflow and process changes in a hybrid environment
- Understanding workflow repercussions
- How to avoid unintended consequences such as patient safety and productivity
- Enhancing existing policies—and creating new ones
- To address hybrid record-specific situations
- How to incorporate non-traditional areas (e.g., surgery scheduling, pre-op, and outpatient clinic)
- Managing and defining the legal health record
- Case study: How one hospital successfully incorporated hybrid records—and what it is still learning
A question and answer session follows the presentation.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
At the end of the audioconference, you will be able to:
- Describe the state of hybrid records
- Identify the key concerns your facility faces with hybrid records as it moves toward an EHR, and the strategies to navigate them
- Evaluate and plan policy approaches to avoid workarounds and boost buy in
- Explain how to assure that your facility maintains the legal health record in a hybrid environment
- Formulate plans to manage the significant and continual changes in your environment brought on by the migration to EHR and be better prepared for unintended consequences
