AUDIOCONFERENCE

presented on August 30, 2007
Accidents happen in your facility. CMS understands this.
But what surveyors want to know is…
How will you respond under the new F-tag #323, accidents and supervision?
The release of F-tag #323 has put skilled nursing facilities once again in the hot seat. Under the new tag, surveyors look at the types of accidents that occur and what could have been done to avoid the accident. Was it avoidable? Unavoidable? Not an easy question to answer, but it’s the one whose answer will mean the difference between a clean discussion and a brutal survey citation.
You need to implement an effective monitoring process and continually re-assess your plan of care to properly identify hazards over which your facility has control.
Provide adequate supervision to your residents and prevent “avoidable” accidents!
Listen to HCPro and industry experts for a 90-minute audioconference to gain a better understanding of the expectations under the Accidents and Supervision F-tag #323. You’ll be provided with strategies and tips on how to respond to the new changes so you can stay in compliance, properly supervise residents, and avoid being cited—sometimes under multiple additional F-tags—for accidents in your facility.
At the conclusion of this program, purchasers will be able to:
- Define avoidable vs. unavoidable accident within the regulatory framework of F-tag #323
- Demonstrate ways to handle a “frequent faller”
- Recognize what “adequate supervision” means in relation to falls, smoking hazards, elopement prevention, resident-to-resident altercations and accidents
- Demonstrate skills to complete Environmental Surveys to identify physical plant hazards
- Recognize the importance of developing an individualized plan of care
- Recognize when assistive devices are a help or a hazard
