AUDIOCONFERENCE ON CD OR AUDIO ARCHIVE
Sponsored by Disease Management Advisor
presented on November 13, 2007
Certain populations can be difficult to reach in an attempt to expand the scope and effectiveness of healthcare in the United States. The reasons could be several – language differences, cost, rural locations, ingrained stereotypes, cultural perceptions of medicine, time, and lack of exposure to technology are just a few. Regardless of the cause, disease management programs have been shown to overcome these barriers and improve the health and well-being of a number minority groups.
Listen to HCPro for this 60-minute audioconference “Cultural Diversity and Disease Management: Improving care in ethnic populations.” Dr. Winston Wong, MD, MS and Brenda Schmidt, MS, MBA, diversity population-management experts, will use evidence-based examples to illustrate how your program can target groups with traditionally-high non-participation rates. Concepts such as the use of incentives, the importance of person-to-person contact, the importance of community healthcare, and other creative ideas will be among the strategies presented.
