AUDIOCONFERENCE ON CD OR AUDIO ARCHIVE
Sponsored by Certified Coder Boot Camp - Inpatient Version
presented on November 30, 2007
How familiar are you with the changes to the CC list?
Do you know which codes will affect payment under MS-DRGs?
For the first time in 20 years, CMS made major revisions to the complication and comorbidity (CC) list. Coders who have been accustomed to CMS’ old list have to learn a completely new classification structure with several hundred changes— all of which are meant to usher in the new Medicare Severity DRGs (MS-DRGs)— including the new classification: major CC (MCC).
Keeping up with the changes can be overwhelming, and if you miss an MCC, it could mean a significant difference in payment. Capturing the correct CCs and MCCs also helps paint an accurate picture of the patient’s severity, which is all the more reason to familiarize yourself with the changes and understand the clinical rationale behind the deletions and additions.
Ensure a strategy to capture these codes and improve physician documentation
Get the help you need to correctly capture severity and understand how the conditions you report will affect payment under the MS-DRG system during this 90-minute audioconference.
