Product Description:

AUDIOCONFERENCE ON CD OR AUDIO ARCHIVE

Sponsored by Solving the AHP Conundrum
presented on December 11, 2007

The Joint Commission identifies only two types of allied health professionals (PAs and APRNs) who must be credentialed and privileged through the medical staff process or an equivalent process. As such, medical staffs should ensure that their privileging and evaluation/monitoring processes for these professionals are as stringent as they are for med staff physicians.

But unlike physicians, many AHPs have unclearly defined or misunderstood scopes of practice, require physician supervision/oversight which may affect the collection of data specific to the AHP, and may not be afforded the same rights as the medical staff (e.g., hearing and appeals) when something does go wrong.

This 90-minute audioconference on briefly discusses which AHP titles must be credentialed and privileged, and outline what the options are for assessing their competency. Next, it delves into methods for ensuring that your facility monitors them in a way that links their privileges to standardized procedures and protocols (i.e., using a criteria-based approach). We also discuss ways to apply FPPE and OPPE to these practitioners.
