FACULTY

Diane M. Billings, EdD, RN, FAAN, is chancellors’ professor emeritus of Nursing at Indiana University School of Nursing, Indianapolis, IN. As a consultant and freelance instructional designer, she works with educator groups to integrate best practices in teaching and learning in online courses. She is the author of three award winning nursing textbooks and has published articles in nursing and higher education journals in the area of using information technology to support teaching and learning. She is the recipient of national awards for her teaching and innovative use of technology. She serves on the editorial boards of five nursing journals. Her current research focuses on the benchmarking the best practices in teaching and learning.

Janet Phillips, PhDc, RN, is an associate instructor at Indiana University School of Nursing (IUSON) and an online faculty member in the Center for Teaching and Lifelong Learning. She has been a nurse for 28 years and has been teaching in nursing in the classroom, clinical, laboratory, and online settings for 12 years. With these experiences, Janet has become very versatile in her abilities to teach in a variety of settings, create courses, and serve as an editor and peer reviewer. She is currently a doctoral candidate at Indiana University majoring in Nursing Education Science with a minor in Adult Education. She teaches Capstone courses in the RN to BSN program and facilitates online courses for nurse educators in the Teaching in Nursing certificate program and the Teaching and Learning in Web-based Courses certificate program.
