AUDIOCONFERENCE ON CD OR AUDIO ARCHIVE
Sponsored by Briefings on Infection Control
presented on February 26, 2007
Infection control professionals are under the gun:
They must start training staff now to document conditions present on admission to comply with CMS’ final inpatient prospective payment system (IPPS) rule.
Under new Medicare regulations, hospitals will no longer receive higher payments for the additional costs associated with treating patients for certain hospital-acquired infections (HAIs) and medical errors, including:
- Catheter-associated urinary tract infections.
- Vascular catheter-associated infections.
- Infection-related errors such as bed sores, objects left in patients' bodies, blood incompatibility, air embolism, and falls.
<
Add to this the increased scrutiny of legislators on infection control practices ranging from active surveillance to creation of risk assessment, and there is the real possibility hospital costs could skyrocket.
How do you communicate effectively with staff outside the infection control department to ensure that your hospital is following best practice and compliance measure to meet the standards of CMS?
How does the ICP you convey to coders, physicians, nurses, and other staff what they need to do to comply with current regulations? Who holds the responsibility, the authority, and the accountability for enacting a program to prevent and control the spread of multi-drug resistant organisms?
In this 90-minute audioconference William V. Walker, MD, FACP, CCS, CHC, and Tracy Cox, RN, CIC show how ICPs can best communicate with non-ICPs ensuring their facilities identify CMS infection control requirements and meet them successfully. Please take a look at our agenda.
