AUDIOCONFERENCE ON CD OR AUDIO ON-DEMAND
Sponsored by Healthcare Audit Resource Center
presented on May 5, 2008
Hospitals lose millions of dollars per year due to improper categorization of patients. The ever-present question is: inpatient or observation?
Learn to make the right call
The rules surrounding observation care are intricate and convoluted. Billing for services rendered under observation status represents a major compliance risk for hospitals. Correct documentation of patient status also affects your facility’s ability to bill for outpatient services and receive subsequent reimbursement. The intricacies of determining observation status become even more confusing when applied to real-life scenarios. Providers face constant questions concerning observation compliance, including:
- How to define billable observation time
- When to assign condition code 44
- How to document obstetrics patients and observation
Listen to HCPro's 90-minute audioconference Observation Status: The Latest Tools for Compliant Billing, Coding, and Documentation. Nationally known observation experts Day Egusquiza and Virginia Gleason, JD, MPA, CHC, CPHRM provides practical solutions for compliance with outpatient observation criteria.
