Will your hospital meet Life Safety Code® standards in 2008?
The Joint Commission’s life safety specialists continue to put Life Safety Code® issues in the spotlight. More then a quarter of accredited hospitals surveyed in the first half of 2007 received requirements for improvement (RFIs) for problems under EC.5.20. That's not the only standard causing problems for healthcare safety professional.
<
Other thorny EC standards proving to be risky areas for RFIs include:
1. EC.1.10 (managing safety and conducting risk assessments)
2. EC.5.40 (inspecting fire protection equipment)
3. EC.5.50 (managing interim life safety measures)
4. EC.7.50 (inspecting medical gas and vacuum systems)
Actual situations that resulted in citations for these standards include:
1. Conduit running through, but not servicing, a stairwell (EC.5.20)
2. No records of fire pump testing (EC.5.40)
3. Hot-air exhaust fan deemed a potential hanging hazard (EC.1.10)
Bonus tools included in your material packet!
In addition to the expertise and advice presented during this audioconference, you'll also receive these helpful “take-away's” provided within your materials pack:
1. Refrigerator temperature risk assessment
2. In-depth EC.5.40 checklist for mock survey
3. Rundown of EC.5.20 citations from two hospital surveys, including specific Life Safety Code references
These materials will be provided prior to the program date via e-mail with PDF links. Please download the PDF files before the day of the program. Get tips to keep your facility citation-free in 2008 Join HCPro and expert speakers Steve MacArthur and Brad Keyes, CHSP, during this important 90-minute audioconference.
