About the author

Joseph D. Cooper, MD, CMSL, is a senior consultant with The Greeley Company. He is a physician executive with more than 20 years of experience in medical staff organization and function, bylaws review and design, peer review, and credentialing and privileging. Cooper has held numerous medical staff positions, including department chair, credentials chair, and president of the medical staff. He has also served as a hospital board trustee and chaired the quality council. Cooper has successfully led redesign projects, been involved in fair hearings, worked to enhance physician-board relations, and developed a medical staff leadership program and communication vehicles.
