About the author:

Gwen Rogers, MS, RN, CIC, is the Manager of Epidemiology and Infection Prevention at Maine Medical Center in Portland. She has been in Infection Control for 15 years and has been certified since 1995. Ms. Rogers has served as a consultant to the Department of Human Services Infectious Disease Workgroup, Subcommittee on Judicious Use of Antibiotics, The Maine Hospital Association regarding Bloodborne Pathogens and Sharps Injury Prevention, the Maine Quality Forum on Mandatory Reporting and the Department of Human Services Workgroup on Bio-terrorism Readiness. She was the recipient of a Distinguished Leadership Award from the Maine Hospital Association in 2001. She presented a poster presentation at the Syndrome Surveillance International Conference in 2004, and her abstract was published in the MMWR.
