Back by Request—and Updated for 2008!
When you purchase this program, you'll receive the Injections and Infusions Coding Toolkit. With the toolkit and a little training, you can master coding and billing for injection and infusion services – eliminate confusion and guesswork in a matter of minutes.
Learn How to Use the Toolkit!
During this 90-minute Webcast, our speakers inform you how to use the toolkit and present a series of case scenarios that demonstrate its use in real time to report injections and infusions (chemo and non-chemo) in different clinical settings, including infusions clinics, the emergency department, and for a patient placed in observation.
The toolkit takes the guesswork out of
- selecting the initial service according to the CPT hierarchy
- deciding which codes can be reported in combination with other codes
The result? More accurate charging, appropriate reimbursement, and improved compliance. Even if you think your facility has a good handle on injection and infusion coding, this program is a great way to test your knowledge and the easy-to-use coding tool kit is just a smart investment especially if staff has changed.
The Injections and Infusions Coding Toolkit was developed by the staff at The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center, a high-volume and world-renowned cancer treatment facility in Houston, TX. They sorted through volumes of government instructions, deciphered the rules, and designed a tool that makes it easy for staff to capture correct codes at point-of-service—or for coders to use to assign appropriate codes to bill.
Take a look at the Agenda
- Review of the complicated rules of drug administration: CPT hierarchy for initial, sequential, and concurrent injections and infusions
- Discussion and interview on tool development
- Demonstration

A question and answer session will follow the presentation.
Learning Objectives
At the end of the Webcast, you will be able to: - Demonstrate how to use the tool to others in your facility
- Explain why the tool was developed and how it has been implemented
- Describe how charging for drug administration services can be simplified by using an encounter form to take the guesswork out of the 2008 CPT coding rules
- Use the tool to improve charge accuracy for drug administration, resulting in better compliance and revenue generation for your facility
Featured Speakers
Jugna Shah, MPH, is president of Nimitt Consulting in Washington, DC. She is a frequent speaker and a contributing writer to the newsletter, Briefings on APCs, and the book, Compliance Troubleshooter, both from HCPro. She works extensively on drug administration coding and billing matters with providers across the country, including many who provide large volumes of infusion and oncology services. As a result of her expertise, she was solicited to validate and test the tool to ensure ease of use and technical accuracy.
Angela Simmons, CPA, is director of clinical revenue and reimbursement at The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX, and a national expert in oncology Medicare reimbursement and activity-based costing.
