Meet the authors

Author Jeri L. Whitten, C-TAGME, began her GME career in 1970 as the coordinator for the general surgery program at West Virginia University, Charleston Division. In 1973, she transferred to the pediatric program, where she has remained. Whitten chaired the steering committee to establish the coordinators' section of the Association of Pediatric Program Directors (APPD), and she is a founding board member and immediate past president of the National Certification Board of Training Administrators of Graduate Medical Education representing pediatrics. Whitten is a frequent presenter at national and regional meetings related to graduate medical education.

Contributing author Vicki Hamm is the GME program administrator at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. Hamm began her career in GME in 1976 and has remained in her present position for more than 32 years. She maintains institutional oversight of 36 training programs and 450 house officers. She works closely with the institution's 36 program coordinators in all facets of administering the residency program.
