The Joint Commission's 2009 National Patient Safety Goals (NPSGs) include more changes that ever before.

There are four new safety goals. Three focus on healthcare-associated infections and one focuses on transfusion safety. The infection-related goals have a one-year compliance phase-in period during which hospitals will be expected to meet quarterly deadlines. There are also a number of new requirements embedded in four existing goals: Goal 1A: patient identification; Goal 8: medication reconciliation; Goal 13: patient involvement with safety; and the Universal Protocol.

Are you prepared to take the steps necessary to comply?

During this valuable 90-minute audioconference, our expert speakers offer a comprehensive review and tips for coping with the 2009 National Patient Safety Goals and the many changes to existing goals.
