MEET THE SPEAKERS
Diana Swihart, PhD, DMin, MSN, CS, RN-BC, is a director for the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®* at the Bay Pines (FL) VA Healthcare System. She is a member of the Advisory Board for the Forum for Shared Governance. Dr. Swihart has published and spoken on a number of topics related to nursing, shared governance, competency assessment, evidence-based nursing practice, education, and staff development, accelerated learning, and preceptorships both locally and nationally. She is currently a chair in the development of a national VHA RN Residency Program and leads the Preceptor Development process for that program. Dr. Swihart is currently a member of the ANCC Commission on Accreditation and the treasurer for the National Nursing Staff Development Organization (NNSDO).
Marianne Adoryan BSN, MA, RN-BC, is a clinical nurse educator in the Center for Nursing Excellence, Education, Clinical Practice, and Research at Sarasota Memorial Hospital, a Florida hospital designated by the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®. She is the new nurse graduate advisor. Most recently she has developed and implemented a new nurse residency unit based on research literature. She currently is the liaison with local colleges and universities for transitioning and advancing nurses in their own professional practice.
