Fueled by money and technology, privileging disputes are not what they used to be.
Historically, privileging disputes meant negotiating often complex compromises between two or more specialties engaged in a “turf battle” over a procedure or technology. While this type of specialty crossover dispute continues to pose challenges for medical staffs, the problem has grown. Solving today’s privileging disputes also entails addressing competition from physicians at nonhospital surgical facilities, monitoring competency amid shortened learning curves for all types of noninvasive procedures, in addition to other challenges.
The bottom line: Solutions to any privileging disputes must come back to the best interests of patients.
Avoid compromised relationships among medical staff members and ensure patient safety.
Join HCPro on Wednesday August 20 for Privileging Disputes: Manage Challenges Brought by Crossover, Competition, Competency, and New Technology. This live audioconference will review four of the most common types of privileging disputes involving physicians at hospitals nationwide and give attendees a step-by-step approach to solving their toughest privileging conflicts. It will help you:
- Proactively address issues before they happen
- Take stock of all facets of a privileging dispute-not just negotiation of the "turf war"
- Address issues of competency in privileging disputes in light of FPPE and OPPE
- Resolve disputes constructively when they do happen
- Save time and energy with a clear, concise, objective process
Receive a comprehensive, step-by-step policy to solve the toughest privileging conflicts, regardless of specialty.
With participation, you will receive a policy for preventing and resolving privileging conflicts. The clear steps in this policy can be employed proactively to help prevent privileging conflicts from arising, and it can also be implemented after the fact to resolve all aspects of an existing privileging dispute.
