Pressure Ulcers: Strategies to build a case for unavoidability
Featuring: Jacqueline Vance, RN, C. CDONA/LTC
and Nancy Robinson, BSN, MS

Avoidable pressure ulcers are a continual problem in long-term care. If a resident develops a pressure ulcer in your facility you need to have a working care plan in place to build a case for unavoidability. There are simple strategies you can take to protect yourself, your organization and most importantly, your residents.

Implement a care process, avoid controversial practices, and reduce liability with proven best practices from industry experts.
Listen to HCPro and speakers Jacqueline Vance, RN, C. CDONA/LTC and Nancy Robinson, BSN, MS, for the 90-minute audio conference Using Care Processes in Wound Care Management: Prevent and Respond to Pressure Ulcers in Long-term Care. During this program you’ll learn new and innovative ways to assess a patient or resident for pressure ulcer risk. Our speakers cover the new section M on the MDS 3.0 and explain the impact it could have on your bottom line. They also break down the expectations from CMS and provide helpful insight regarding F-tag 314 and how it fits into the care planning process.

If what you’ve always done isn’t working, then purchase today and learn proven practices to avoid pressure ulcers from Jacqueline Vance, RN, C. CDONA/LTC and Nancy Robinson, BSN, MS.

Get your staff together for lunch and learn what needs to be done to follow a care process, how to improve care outcomes, and how to show CMS when a pressure ulcer is unavoidable. Don’t forget, you can always buy a CD and use it as a training tool!

At the conclusion of this program, participants will be able to:

  • Recognize the care process within clinical practice guidelines and how this reduces risk within a facility as well as improve patient outcomes
  • Assess risk beyond the Braden or Norton scale
  • Identify the new PU staging system within NPUAP guidelines
  • Identify section M in MDS 3.0
  • Discuss the care process within the AMDA PU guideline as well as how this ties into the expectations from CMS
