Immediate Threat to Life situations have increased due to the increased awareness by surveyors on situations that could place patients and staff in jeopardy. An Immediate Threat to Life is a situation so problematic that the lives or health of patients are immediately endangered. If a surveyor identifies this situation in your hospital you could receive preliminary denial of accreditation within 24 hours.
What do you do if this happens to you? How can you avoid this?
