Audio Conference on CD or Audio On-Demand

Sponsored by Briefings on APCs

presented on February 26, 2009

Emergency Departments (EDs) are the most significant gateways to every hospital and are challenged with the provision of care and the mounting requirements for extended documentation and billing of their services. The ED also represents the most likely place for a hospital to fail to capture earned revenue due to the complexity of the charge capture process. This complexity leads to lost revenue from uncaptured but performed procedures, critical care provided but inaccurately or incompletely documented, and the general duality of the clinician's role in charge capture process. By implementing processes, policies, and procedures along with the most up-to-date technology, you can ensure you are earning every penny you deserve.

Best practices for accurate, compliant ED charges

ED revenue is at risk not only from lost charges but also from recoupment based on insufficiently documented visits, procedures, and other services. Make sure your facility is reimbursed for all the valuable services it provides by listening to HCPro's 90-minute audio conference, Compliant Charge Capture in the ED: Solutions to Prevent Lost Revenue and Mitigate Risk. Nationally recognized healthcare consultant William L. Malm, ND, RN (Health Revenue Integrity Services), and policy specialist Elaine Barry, RN, MSN, APN-C, CPC, CPC-H (EDIMS), discuss how you can identify and address your risk areas in ED reimbursement. They detail how the ED can contribute to the EMR / EHR implementation within the ED, and how specific software can be used as a tool for compliant charge capture.
