Inpatient Psych PPS
Case Studies for Accurate CC Capture and Documentation Improvement
Product Description:
Audio Conference on CD or Audio On-Demand
Sponsored by Briefings on Coding Compliance Strategies
presented on June 18, 2009
A program for inpatient psych billers/coders and CDI staff
PROBLEM
Inpatient psych encounters are oftentimes difficult to code because they involve a complicated coordination of care among several different providers, many of whom are internists who perform initial patient assessments. Clinical documentation from all providers must accurately represent patient severity in order for coders to assign correct ICD-9 codes. When documentation is lacking or when clinical documentation improvement (CDI) programs fail to incorporate inpatient psych units, facilities don't capture all complications/comorbidities (CC) and leave money on the table.
SOLUTION
Train coders, CDI staff members, and clinicians to recognize how documentation affects payment, patient safety, and data quality under the IPF-PPS. Also understand how changes outlined in the fiscal year 2010 IPF-PPS final rule will affect your facility.
LEARN FROM US
Listen to HCPro's 90-minute audio conference, Inpatient Psych PPS: Case Studies for Accurate CC Capture and Documentation Improvement.
