SPEAKERS
Shelly Collins, PharmD, currently serves as the coordinator of clinical pharmacy services at Chesapeake (VA) Regional Medical Center.. Her practice focuses on developing and implementing clinical pharmacy services as well as medication safety and Joint Commission medication management standards and other national patient safety goals. She also works as staff pharmacist at Chesapeake Regional Medical Center. Collins is president of Drug Information Consultants, a business offering consultation and expert witness review for attorneys on medical malpractice cases. She is co-author of Pharmacology and the Nursing Process, Sixth Edition. Collins was awarded the Clinical Pharmacist of the Year Award in 2007 from the Virginia Society of Healthsystem Pharmacists.
Sandra L. Young, MSN, APRN, BC-ADM, serves as manager for nursing education and health sciences at Chesapeake (VA) Regional Medical Center. She is responsible for development and oversight of nursing staff development and education, and has previously worked as program director for an inpatient diabetes program, served as clinical nurse specialist and in staff development. She is board certified in advanced diabetes management and medical-surgical nursing by American Nurses Credentialing Center.
