TRAINING ISSUE: Building an Effective Program

Without an effective infection prevention program, employees in healthcare facilities can jeopardize the health and safety of their patients and put themselves at risk from dangerous communicable diseases. The CDC and OSHA have strict standards on what immunizations healthcare workers must obtain, what protection they should wear, and the responsibility of the employer to provide a safe environment for patients and employees. The infection preventionist plays a pivotal role in educating and training healthcare employees about their responsibility to minimize patient and employee exposure to communicable diseases, through an effective and supportive infection prevention program.

LEARN FROM US

HCPro presents Infection Prevention Core Training, Part 3: Developing an Effective IC Program to Ensure Employee Health and Safety. Expert infection control consultants Libby Chinnes, RN, BSN, CIC (IC Solutions) and Peggy Prinz Luebbert MS, MT (ASCP), CIC, CHSP (Healthcare Interventions) provide guidance on how to implement and maintain a sound employee health program. The speakers outline steps to train healthcare employees on what type of immunizations to receive and what precautions to take in the everyday working environment to protect patients from worker-spread illness.

BONUS: At the conclusion of this program, participants will receive a fully customizable PowerPoint that they can use as a reference guide or a resource to conduct staff training at their own facility.
