About the Authors
Brad Keyes, CHSP. Keyes is a life safety consultant at The Greeley Company (a division of HCPro, Inc.) in Marblehead, MA. He is a former life safety specialist for The Joint Commission. His expertise lies in the management of the environment of care, development of leadership effectiveness, and efficiency in work processes. Keyes focuses on life safety issues, assessing an organization's preparedness for survey, evaluating processes in achieving preparedness, and guiding organizations toward compliance. He is the author of HCPro's Life Safety Compliance Manual: A Guide to the Joint Commission Standards.
Thomas J. Huser, MS, CHSP, is a safety coordinator for a healthcare system in Indianapolis where he has specific responsibilities for emergency preparedness and hazardous materials management. He has more than 23 years of healthcare and public safety experience. Huser has published more than a dozen articles in the Journal of Healthcare Security on topics including disaster drill planning, emergency decontamination, the incident command system, and the hazard communication program.
